Spring/Summer 2024
The enduring need for progress
As we find ourselves at the beginning of this new fiscal year, I am reminded of a powerful truth: “Time waits for no man, but progress waits for man to enact it.” This sentiment resonates deeply within our organization as we continue to drive forward, ensuring that our actions and initiatives pave the way for a more inclusive and supportive community for all.
I am thrilled to share the exciting updates and new initiatives at SCIO, particularly the launch and enhancements of our three critical online platforms. Our main website, SCIOntario.org, has been revitalized to offer a more engaging and resource-rich experience. It serves as a comprehensive hub for information, support, and services tailored to our community’s needs.
Moreover, we are proud to introduce the AccessibleWork.ca platform. This site is dedicated to facilitating employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, bridging the gap between talent and employers. With enhanced resources and a user-friendly interface, it aims to empower individuals to achieve their career aspirations.
Cortree has also seen significant updates. Cortree remains an invaluable resource for educational content, offering courses and information on a wide range of topics relevant to the spinal cord injury and mobility disability community. Featuring content created by those with lived experience and highlighting tips, reviews and topics that matter to our community, like accessible housing, managing pressure injuries and equipment.
We are committed to continuing our efforts to enhance the lives of those with spinal cord injuries through innovative programs, robust advocacy, and a steadfast focus on education and support. We are excited about the potential for further growth and impact, and we look forward to sharing this journey with all of you.
As we continue to make strides toward these goals, your involvement and support are more crucial than ever. I encourage you to attend our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 26th. This event is not only an opportunity to stay informed about our progress but also a chance to become an official voting member of SCIO, gaining numerous benefits and a direct voice in our future.
Stay tuned for more information on how you can get involved and make a difference.
Together, we can ensure that progress does not wait but is actively pursued.
